Stories

I was once a clockwork soldier. When my body no longer served
its purpose, I was dismantled, and my parts used as cores for
various weapons. Now, my ears make up a portion of her staff.
She came to the battle as a part of the medical corps, wielding
me to heal the injured. But I did not understand—why would
one so delicate remain in such a dangerous place?
It is exasperating.
One day, I learned why she does what she does:
She lost someone
precious in battle, and remains here as a prayer that
there will be fewer people like her in the world.
Gunfire crackles. She crumples to the ground. I wish to heal her,
but there is no one here to use me. All I can hear are her pained
cries. Someone help. Please help. Do not make me suffer as
she does.
