Stories

The iron bars that separated the land were a symbol of its
segregation, and those who lived beyond the wall were not
even recognized as human. But the land was lean for each
side of the bars alike, and it drained the hearts of all.

The man had a daughter, but could not see her. She was
beyond the wall—was she even alive? "This is all because of
those damn bars... No. It's because of the people's hearts."

The man wailed, for he could not understand why it had come
to this. His wish was the same as any parent: to embrace his
own child. With his own death looming, he swore to do
anything to see his daughter once more.

The authorities arrested a man who had crossed the bars.
To them, he was no better than a beast, so he was quickly
killed and thrown into the same grave as his daughter.
