Stories

The children of the village have a practice of obtaining
"stars" during the yuletide season.
As such, stars are closely associated with the holiday,
and act as a delightful reminder of childhood.
Three weeks before yuletide, the children leave
the village for a little adventure.
They cross two mountains and three rivers
before arriving at the place where star-trees grow.
The children return with armfuls of stars plucked from the trees,
then hang them on doors along with beautiful wreaths.
When the adults look at the stars,
they see how their children have grown.
The people who guard the star-trees hate the village children,
for they live off stealing and thievery.
Unable to kill them as they wish,
they find themselves staring at their sad, bare trees.
