Stories

There was once a man who dreamt of going to space, and
he eventually managed to save enough for a journey.
As his family saw him off to the spaceship,
he looked to be the happiest man in the world.
Yet there was a defect in the spaceship, and he was barely
able to strap himself into an escape pod before it exploded.
Eventually, the pod landed in the ocean
and drifted to a small deserted island.
He used tools from the pod to make a hut, and also to hunt
animals for food. Then he began working on a board from
the pod, turning it into a magnificent wooden oar.
When the man returned, he expected a reunion with his family.
But his wife had thought him dead and remarried,
and his child no longer remembered his face.
All he had left was the oar that saved his life.
