Halfway through its demolition, an apartment complex was
suddenly abandoned. But there, amidst the tangle of steel beams
and exposed concrete, lived a single old woman with no relatives,
no memories, and nowhere else to go.

But the longer she remained in the wreckage, the clearer her
memories became. One day, she recalled that a man used to
live in the apartment with her.

Here are the stairs my husband dashed up ever day. There is the
landing where our daughter played. If not for the accident,
we would have grown old together. So why have I forgotten?
Why am I the only one left?

As she pondered these questions, the old woman wrapped the
cable from the crane around her neck and kicked the chair away
so she might finally see her family again.
