Stories

There was once a knight renowned for possessing strength
so great that he could defeat armies without ever drawing
his blade. The king wished to see him in action, so he invited
him to the castle and threw a lavish feast.
But the knight insisted that a sword ought never be drawn
outside of battle. The king, now increasingly interested in
seeing the knight's skill, started a war with a nearby country
—but they won without the knight ever drawing his blade.
If you want me to draw my sword, find me an enemy of
equal strength, said the knight. The king immediately
started war after war, but they won them all with the
knight's blade in its sheath.
One day, the knight's wife asked him to help cook dinner.
He took up a knife with a trembling hand and wept as he
cut the ingredients—for he was so afraid of blades, he
could never draw his own sword.
