My research led to uncountable people dying in battle.
This troubled me at first, but I eventually stopped thinking
about it. Then they brought me a new test subject: a middle-aged
man, fat as a pig.

My orders were to find a way to make his body produce a
mysterious toxin, but the man was...confusing. He didn't seem to
have a human ego, and when he spoke, he only grunted and
begged for food like an animal.

I observed the man as I experimented on him, and over time,
my contact with him re-awakened the humanity I had long ago.
This led me to wonder what would happen to the man when
the experiment was over.

At that moment, I remembered why I became a researcher—and
it wasn't to kill people. So I cancelled the experiment.
People were furious and I had to flee, but I feel much better
because— Oh, wait. It's feeding time!
